Linus Mattauch holds the Robert Bosch Juniorprofessorship on Sustainable Use of Natural Resources in the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Technical University of Berlin since 2021. He also co-Leads the Future Lab “Inequality, Human Well-Being and Development” at the Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact Research. His research group is funded by a grant from the Robert Bosch Foundation.

Linus is also a Research Associate of the Faculty of Geography and the Environment and the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford. He is a member of Economics for Inclusive Prosperity and a board member of “Scientists for Future”, Germany. He is a Contributing Author to Chapter 5 of Working Group III of the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Linus is also a member of the Expert Commission of the German Catholic Church on “World Economy and Ethics: Sustainable Development".

Linus previously was Deputy Director of the “Economics of Sustainability” Programme, Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET) at the Oxford Martin School (2019-21) and a lecturer at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford (2016-21). He completed a postdoctoral grant of the German Academic Exchange Service (2016-18) at INET and was

Linus completed his PhD thesis, entitled “Rent and Redistribution: The welfare implications of financing low-carbon public investment”, in 2015 at the Technical University of Berlin. His graduate studies were funded by the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Linus also worked at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (2012-15) and the Technical University of Berlin (2010) as a research fellow. He holds an MMathPhil from Oxford in mathematics and philosophy (2008) and spend a year as a visting graduate student at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris (2008-09).
